You write and send an email to the company and let them know what the issues are.
But, what happens when the large behemoth of a company (Nike) doesn’t seem to pay attention and respond in a timely fashion?
You create a website that looks like an online store with sizes for the Female Sneakerfiend, but the kicker is you tell potential buyers, “Sorry…..these sneakers are not available in your size because Nike only makes them available in men’s sizes.”
This is exactly what Emily Hodgson and Emilie Riis did by launching the fake online store- Purple Unicorn Planet– as their campaign to get Nike’s attention to make some of their known men’s sneakers in women’s sizes, too.
Our campaign grew out of the search for the perfect pair of trainers,” Hodgson says. “We were both on the lookout for something understated but fashionable. We were largely drawn to the darker colourways using patent leather, suede and different patterns. We’d eagerly check out trainer and fashion blogs, however, were always disappointed as most of the trainers were only made in men’s sizes.
So, what can you do?
You can support Emily and Emilie by signing their online petition and encourage Nike and the other sneaker companies to start producing sneakers in smaller sizes, similar to what we’ve been promoting on the OSD Talk Show for more than 3-years.
Let your tongue hang loose and help Emily, Emilie and all the Female Sneakerfiends all over the world buy and wear fresh kicks.
