Would a simple Tweet, with the words: “I’m back.”, be as impactful today as they were, say, 20-years ago?

In this day and age of the 24/7 news cycle that exists with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat and the NKOTB Meerkat, maybe, just maybe, MJ would have taken to Meerkat and held his own press conference minus the networks and all the hoopla of having to get dressed up.

He could have rolled out of bed, grabbed himself a fresh cup of Café Bustelo, wiped the sleep out of his eyes, picked up his iPhone and started streaming his press conference.

Well, let’s flashback to 1995, when the NBA was trying to figure out it’s ‘next move’ and the defending Champions, the Houston Rockets, were riding high with the Dream Shake.

Then, on Saturday, March 18, 1995,  through his personal attorney and business manager, MJ issued the following statement:

Not bad for a guy had recently turned 31-years-old and hadn’t played in the NBA for 18 months.
