The 8th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival took place within steps from the Brooklyn Bridge, and featured a myriad of vendors selling t-shirts, hats, bracelets, and sunglasses along with some delicious food from a number of restaurants and caterers such as Grandma’s Catering Kitchen.
The day was beautiful, the weather forecast called for temperatures to be close to 90-degrees, with a possible chance of rain, but Mother Nature didn’t spoil the festivities.
Bloodline Fresh organized the FRSHR Than Your AVRGE (Fresher Than Your Average) sneaker battle earlier in the day to find out not only who wore a pair of fresh kicks to the Hip Hop festival, but who knew it’s Kickstory, and how they coordinated their outfit to go with their kicks.
A special star-studded ‘Thank you’ to the judges, pictured with Sean “Paper Chasr” Williams, they are DJ Tony Tone (Cold Crush Brothers), Chip Fu a/k/a/ Jungle Rock, Jr. (Fu Schnickens), and Mr. Man (Bush Babees).
The battle was intense, and folks did get animated, but at the end, it was Mache who took home the trophy for his custom LeBron 9 P.S. Elite “MVP”sneakers!
Oh, and how could I forget about who performed at the festival?
This year’s headliner was Busta Rhymes who got the crowd hype, and then surprised everyone by bringing a “Who’s Who” list of artists on stage to perform with him: Slick Rick, Lil Fame of M.O.P., Buckshot, Smif-n-Wessun, Leaders of the New School fam Charlie Brown and Dinco D, A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg & Q-Tip, along with Reek Da Villian, and J Doe!
